Portoroz Slovenia
Portoroz (Portorose) is one of biggest tourist destinations in Slovenia and certainly the most important on Slovenian coastline. Its history has longer tradition than the history of Slovenian tourism itself and it goes way back to the times when tourism was not even known or called under that name.
Portoroz today accounts for some 3000 local residents and is part of Piran municipality. Development as a tourist destination started at the end of 19th century yet the pleasant Mediterranean climate and fertile soil enabled the development of vineyards and olive groves. Special natural resources also allowed early spa development.
Portoroz today boasts excellent accommodation and superb wellness facilities, delicious and varied cuisine, unique thermal and wellness services, topmost cultural and business meeting activity, one of the most beautiful and modern marines on the Adriatic, the airport and the Casino.
Located in a peaceful corner of the bay of Piran, Portoroz is embraced by a garland of small hills, all scattered with olive groves, hidden Istrian villages and vineyards. It offers a diversity of various sport and recreational activities as well as entertainment and cultural events.
