Slovenia Culture

Development of Slovenian culture is closely connected to the rise of Slovenian nation. Many important milestones in history of Slovenia are related to the creation of an art or a literatal work or any other culturaly important work.

First such important work is the first printed book in Slovenian language in 1551 and a translation of Bible to Slovenian in 1584. This was chronologicaly the 12th language in the world to have a Bible translated in its native language.

Many other remarkable artist were marking Slovenian culture but the most important was France Presern. His song Zdravljica is Slovenian national anthem but the true fame he received with his sonnets.

Slovenian national anthem:

God's blessing on all nations,
Who long and work for that bright day,
When o'er earth's habitations
No war, no strife shall hold its sway;
Who long to see
That all men free
No more shall foes, but neighbours be.

Modern times brought cultural expansion and Slovenia also started to export its cultural achievements. Most popular musicians include among others Slavko Avsenik, Laibach, Vlado Kreslin, Zoran Predin, Pero Lovšin, New Swing Quartet, DJ Umek, Siddharta and Magnifico.
